Surgical Area

In close collaboration with the National Institute of Astrophysics (INAF) and the Laboratory for Molecular Surfaces and Nanotechnologies (LAMSUN) of the University of Catania, SIFI has developed a Research project of great value, called Waterfall.

This project was included in the “Major Strategic Projects” section of the Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR)’s 2005-2007 National Research Programme; it aims at improving the quality of sight of patients suffering from cataract.

Intraocular lenses  MIRA^® are the first result of the application of astrophysical technologies within Waterfall project.
